A kickoff workshop:
Algebraic geometry in the sciences
Time: Jan 10-14, 2011, organized at CMA, UiO
Place: CMA, Oslo. Vilhelm Bjerknes' building, aud. 2
During the spring of 2011 the Mittag-Leffler Institute will host a program called
"Algebraic Geometry with a view towards applications". (link: http://www.math.kth.se/~dirocco/ML2011/ML.html)
Latest (updated Jan 17, 2011): pdf-files of the workshop presentations are available here.
Experts in Enumerative and Computational Algebraic Geometry will gather in Stockholm to discuss and report on recent advances in the area.
The emphasis of the program is on the algebraic geometrical techniques that recently have opened new directions in other fields like Physics, Statistics, Biology, Numerical Analysis.
The focus of this kickoff workshop will be mathematical problems in the sciences,
with an emphasis on problems of an algebraic and geometric nature. For
this workshop, we are particularly interested in biology, chemistry and
engineering.
Updated Program (as of Jan 6, 2010)
Please download a preliminary program here.
NB! Wednesday after lunch there is no scientific program. For those who are interested we can recommend some outdoor winter activities, like ski renting etc. Oslo has great facilities close to Blindern and the city area. Read more about renting equipment here (info only in Norwegian): http://www.skiservice.no/ . Remember to bring warm clothes. If you have questions about this, please contact the organizing committee.
