A CMA-workshop on
Computational methods in astrophysical
problems
Oslo, Nov. 3-4, 2003
Hosted by:
The Centre of Mathematics for Applications, University of Oslo,
Norway
Participants
(posted Nov. 24):
List of participants here.
Introduction:
The use of computational methods as tools for understanding
astrophysical phenomena have become indispensable. This informal
workshop is devoted to various numerical aspects of systems of partial
differential (and related) equations arising in an astrophysical
context, and it will bring together researchers in astrophysics
(with computational emphasis) and researchers working in the area
of partial differential equations and their numerical methods.
Topics that will be addressed include
- Numerical methods for hyperbolic conservation law
- Astrophysical magnetohydrodynamics
- Radiation hydrodynamics
- Radiative transfer problems
- Chromospheric dynamics
- Boundary conditions
Time and place:
The workshop starts on
Monday November 3, 09.15, and ends on
Tuesday November 4, 16.30.
The workshop will take place in the CMA seminar room (B1036) in
the Niels Henrik Abel building (mathematics building) on the 10th.
floor.
All persons who are interested are welcome to attend this informal
workshop.
